Student Support PP & SEND

Pupil Premium & Catch Up

At The Wisbech Academy, we believe that every young person deserves the chance to Thrive with Ambition, no matter their background or starting point. The Pupil Premium is additional government funding which we use to remove barriers, provide opportunities, and make sure all pupils can take their place in our community with confidence.

Our Aims
  • To help every disadvantaged pupil thrive — both academically and personally.

  • To raise aspirations and open doors to further education, training, and employment.

  • To provide targeted support so that ambition is matched with real achievement.

  • To ensure no pupil is held back by circumstance — all can flourish as part of our Wisbech family.

How We Use the Funding

We use Pupil Premium and Catch Up funding to support pupils to be Ready, Respectful, and Safe, and to live out our school virtues every day. This includes:

  • Excellent teaching – investing in high-quality classroom practice and curriculum development.

  • Targeted intervention – small group tuition, mentoring, and subject catch-up sessions.

  • Enrichment and opportunity – subsidised trips, cultural capital experiences, and resources to ensure equity.

  • Wellbeing and belonging – pastoral care, and mentoring, that foster resilience and self-belief.

Catch Up Support

Some pupils need extra help to close gaps in their learning. Our Catch Up programme offers:

  • Literacy and numeracy support at KS3.

  • Focused interventions in core subjects.

  • Bespoke support for pupils with additional needs.

Monitoring and Impact

We track the progress of Pupil Premium and Catch Up pupils carefully — not just in grades, but in attendance, engagement, and participation. Senior leaders and governors review this regularly, so that every pound makes a real difference. Above all, we want our pupils to know that they are noticed, valued, and supported to Thrive with Ambition.
