Behaviour

At The Wisbech Academy, we want every pupil to Thrive with Ambition in a safe, respectful, and inclusive community. Our behaviour policy is built on positive relationships, consistency, and restorative practice.

Our Core Expectations

All pupils are expected to be:

  • Ready – prepared for learning, with the right uniform, equipment, and attitude.

  • Respectful – showing kindness to others, valuing people and property.

  • Safe – acting safely so everyone feels secure at school.

Rewards and Recognition of Positive Behaviours

We believe that positive behaviour should always be noticed first. At Wisbech Academy, we celebrate pupils who live out our values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.

  • Virtue Points – awarded every lesson for being Ready, Respectful and Safe.

  • Positive Postcards – sent home by staff to recognise kindness, effort, or achievement.

  • Virtue Notices – recognising pupils who go above and beyond, such as showing leadership, integrity, or empathy.

  • Hot Chocolate Friday – a special reward with the Associate Principal for pupils who consistently contribute positively to our school community.

Our focus is on encouragement, praise, and recognition – making sure pupils know that good choices matter and are valued.

Uniform & Equipment
  • Pupils wear the TWA uniform with pride: maroon jumper, white shirt, grey trousers, school tie, plain black shoes/trainers.

  • Equipment (pen, pencil, planner, etc.) must be brought daily.

  • Homework is an important habit — support at home makes a real difference.

Responding to Negative Behaviours

At Wisbech Academy we use a simple Remind → Redirect → Respond approach.

  • Remind – a quiet prompt or correction from the teacher.

  • Redirect – a change of seat, calming strategy, or chance to reset.

  • Respond – if behaviour continues, the pupil is directed to a nearby Good Neighbour classroom to continue their work and begin reflection.

If behaviours are repeated, pupils may also:

  • Attend a Supervised Break or Homework Catch-up.

  • Take part in a restorative conversation with staff to repair relationships.

For more serious or persistent behaviours, further steps may include:

  • After-School Reset or Principal’s Reflection Time.

  • ReBooT (Restore, Belong and Thrive) – a supportive space to reset and re-engage.

  • Suspension – used only for serious incidents such as aggression, unsafe actions, or discriminatory language.

Partnership with Parents
  • We keep parents/carers informed if concerns escalate.

  • Restorative conversations often involve parents, helping us work together.

  • Your support with uniform, equipment, punctuality, and attendance makes a huge difference.

Safeguarding and Respect

We do not tolerate bullying, discrimination, or harmful behaviour. All incidents are addressed quickly, fairly, and with respect for everyone involved.
