Careers
Our approach
At TWA, careers learning is woven through subjects so students can see how classroom knowledge links to real jobs and life beyond school. Each department highlights career pathways and real-world examples within its curriculum. This joined-up approach helps students understand why their learning matters and the skills different jobs use.
Real experiences at TWA
-
Guest speakers: e.g. Dr Attwood (Biologist, University of Cambridge) on fieldwork and research; the engineering team who built our school on routes into construction and engineering.
-
Tutor-time careers spotlights: short sessions introducing a range of jobs and the skills they require.
-
STEM enrichment: engineers support our Robotics Club and STEMfest; Laser2000 engineers acted as host judges.
Unifrog (new for this year)
We are launching Unifrog, an online careers and destinations platform that puts trusted information in one place.
What Unifrog gives our Year 7–8 students:
-
Explore: simple tools to discover interests and browse clear, student-friendly career profiles.
-
Connect subjects to jobs: see how classroom learning links to real pathways.
-
Save favourites: build a shortlist of careers and subjects to revisit later.
-
Record activity: log clubs, leadership and achievements to support future applications.
We will share student and parent login details, along with simple how-to guides, as Unifrog rolls out.
Community and employer links
We welcome local employers, parents and carers to talk about their work, set real briefs or support events. If you can offer a short talk, Q&A, workplace insight or project idea, please get in touch through the school office.
How families can help
-
Talk about the skills used in your work or community roles.
-
Encourage your child to try Unifrog, save a few favourite careers and notice links with school subjects.
-
Help them spot real-world examples in the news, locally and at home.
