Governance
"Being part of the IEB at TWA is a unique and exciting opportunity, witnessing the growth of a new school, supporting its journey from the ground up, and helping to shape the future through strong governance as we prepare for the transition to a Local Governing Board."
— Monica Juan, Head of Governance, Brooke Weston Trust
Meet the Chair of Our Interim Executive Board

Our Interim Executive Board is currently chaired by Andy Burns, Director of Education at Brooke Weston Trust.
Andy brings a wealth of experience in school improvement and educational leadership, and is committed to supporting Wisbech Academy during its opening phase. His role ensures that the academy establishes strong foundations, with a clear focus on high standards, effective systems, and a positive culture that enables all pupils to thrive.
At The Wisbech Academy (TWA), governance is currently provided by an Interim Executive Board (IEB). This board plays a key role during the early stages of the academy’s development, offering strategic oversight and supporting the school’s growth as it establishes strong foundations for the future.
The IEB operates as a committee of the Trust Board, meeting regularly to oversee school performance, safeguard values, and ensure effective systems are in place. The focus during this phase is closely aligned with the operational needs of a new and growing school—ensuring that structures, culture, and leadership are developing in line with the academy’s ambitions.
Working in partnership with the Principal, Director of Education, and Trust leaders, the IEB:
- Supports early strategic direction and growth
- Monitors progress against key milestones
- Ensures inclusive, safe, and high-quality provision for pupils
- Represents the wider interests of the school community
As the school becomes more established, the IEB will transition to a Local Governing Board (LGB)—ensuring that long-term governance reflects the school’s needs and continues to support its success.
Governance is a crucial part of the Trust’s mission to ensure no child is left behind, and that every student receives the best possible education and a ‘ticket for life’.
