Last week, in the run up to the British Science Week, we were delighted to welcome Lily Tan, an engineering student at University of Bristol, for a special assembly. Lily delivered an uplifting and informative presentation that introduced students to the wide and fascinating world of engineering. She highlighted the many different branches within the field and offered a closer look at civil engineering, sharing how it plays a vital role in shaping the communities we live in.

Lily also spoke about life at university, giving students a clear picture of what studying engineering can be like, as well as the dedication and skills needed to get there. In addition, she outlined alternative pathways into the profession, including apprenticeships as well as the importance of work experience, and internships, helping students understand the many routes available for future engineers.

Her enthusiasm and encouragement left students inspired, informed, and excited about the possibilities ahead.
