Wisbech Academy was awash with green recently as pupils and staff took part in Wear It Green Day, a key event supporting Mental Health Awareness Week. The day brought the academy community together to raise awareness of mental health and highlight the importance of wellbeing in everyday school life.

The event included a whole-school assembly, tutor time activities, and the chance for everyone to dress in green, creating a strong visual message of unity and support. During the assembly, pupils learned about mental health, why it matters, and how small actions—such as talking, listening and showing kindness—can make a real difference. Tutor time activities gave pupils time to reflect, discuss positive strategies, and explore ways to look after their own wellbeing and that of others.

Wear It Green Day closely reflected Wisbech Academy’s values of Work Hard, Be Kind, and Notice the Good Things. Pupils were encouraged to work hard at understanding their emotions and developing resilience, be kind to themselves and those around them, and notice the good things that support positive mental health. Wearing green together reinforced a sense of belonging and reminded everyone that support is always available.

Speaking about the day, the Associate Principal said: "Wear It Green Day was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils and staff to come together and openly celebrate the importance of mental health. The enthusiasm shown across the academy really reflects our values—working hard on ourselves, being kind to one another, and taking time to notice the positives. We are proud to be a school where wellbeing is a shared priority."

Wear It Green Day was a positive and meaningful event, helping to strengthen a culture of openness, care and positivity across the Wisbech Academy community.
