Vision and Values

Our Mission

Our mission is to give our students an education that gives them choice and opportunity to shape their own futures and equips them to make a positive difference to the world.

Our Five Core Principles

Inclusive Community

We strive to create a welcoming and supportive community where everyone feels valued and can thrive, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.

We recognise and embrace one another’s unique stories and qualities and seek to be a community where diversity is respected, and no one is left out or left behind.

Respect for all people

All members of our school community engage in a concerted effort to respect the dignity of all people.

Respect-filled relationships are at the heart of our approach to education, and we treat each other with kindness.

Intellectual curiosity

We foster intellectual curiosity through a rigorous academic curriculum, and a supportive environment that encourages independent thinking and exploration.

We emphasise not only academic excellence, but the development of lifelong learning habits, and encourage students to embrace the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities.

Character Development

We recognise that the habits that young people learn and practise when they are growing up follow them through into adulthood.

We guide students to develop their virtues and personal strengths, to help them recognise what they are good at, and use their talents to make a positive contribution to the school and the wider world.

A culture of service

We encourage students to build links with our local community, so that they learn the value of service to others, broaden their life skills and bring benefits to the wider community.

We encourage students to be change-makers who work towards social justice and a fairer world.

Our Approach to Character Development

With a focus on rigorous academics and personalised support, we empower our students to reach their full potential.  However, we believe that academic achievement is just one aspect of a well-rounded education. We place equal emphasis on the development of character and creating conditions where students are happy at school. This is why we explicitly teach students the Wisbech Academy values and virtues, and we have a bespoke character development programme.

The Wisbech Academy Values

Work Hard

We try our best and make the most of the opportunities that are offered to us.

Be Kind

We treat other people as we would like to be treated and remember that each person has dignity.

Notice the good things

We use ‘positive noticing’ to help us recognise the good things that happen.

The Wisbech Academy Virtues

We encourage students to cultivate the Wisbech Academy virtues, and to develop their individual character strengths.

The STEM focus in the Wisbech Academy curriculum equips students to thrive in this environment, as it fosters innovation, curiosity and resilience.
