Antonia Tan - Head of Science

Antonia is delighted to join The Wisbech Academy as Head of Science. She is deeply passionate about embedding evidence-based practices into teaching and inspiring students to engage with science by connecting it to real-world contexts and career opportunities. She firmly believes that a strong understanding of science can open doors to a wide range of future career pathways.

Antonia holds a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s degree in Education Management from King’s College London. She is currently working towards achieving Chartered Teacher status.

She brings with her a wealth of experience in research-informed pedagogy and a strong subject knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics across all Key Stages. Prior to joining The Wisbech Academy, Antonia worked at Thomas Clarkson Academy for several years, most recently as Head of Social Sciences and Subject Lead for Biology. In that role, she led the development of a cohesive approach to teaching scientific vocabulary and introduced a range of super-curricular initiatives, including Genetic Engineering Day, the Biology Challenge, and educational trips to universities and Research Centers across Cambridgeshire.

Antonia is committed to helping all pupils make excellent progress in science. She places a strong emphasis on high-quality teaching and ensuring that pupils are equipped with the powerful knowledge and skills needed for the next stage of their education.

At The Wisbech Academy, she looks forward to inspiring pupils through a broad and engaging science curriculum, laying the foundations for future study and careers in STEM and beyond. She is also keen to enrich the learning experience through a varied programme of extracurricular activities, competitions, and educational visits.
